If you’ve read my 2019 dream blog, you may know that I want to go on more small trips this year. When I started to plan my first trip, I wanted to do something very wintery, and that I’d never tried before. I figured out that there are so many great places in Switzerland, and I struggled to choose only one place among never-ending possibilities. Long story short, my husband and I ended up doing a simple activity this time after considering all the most famous destinations throughout Switzerland. We decided to go SLEDGING! There were still a bunch of options, but I narrowed down, and finally chose our first destination of this year.
So, two weeks ago, we went to Fideris, there is one of longest sledge runs in Switzerland; with a length of 12km. I was thrilled because it was my first sledging officially. From the Fideris Village, private vehicles are not allowed, so we had to move to the top where we were able to start sledging by their minibus. At first, I thought that it was a bit complicated, but it turned out one of the best parts of the trip. The bus ran over the white snow, the landscape was beautiful through the windows, and also it was so comfy. From 9 am to 1 pm, buses run the same road as the sledge run, so you should be cautious when you are sledging.
The bus took us to the Fideriser Heuberge at an altitude 2000m. There are two restaurants, some ski slopes and lifts, but it was literally pure white world, and it was exactly what I was looking for.
On the top, we took some time to practice sledging because we wanted to go down later when there was no traffic. You can also buy a day pass, and do as many as you want. However, we were a bit late, and we wanted to do it in block time (14:30-16:00 no buses on the road), so we bought just single tickets.
I was amazed by the serene white landscape, felt pure joy, and laughed as if I went back to being a child. We kept asking each other “Have you done something like this before?”, and the answer was ‘“Never!”
It was a good start! I want to keep travelling on the weekends, and then share my weekend experiences with you. I hope you like it. What do you plan to do this weekend? Please let me know your plans.
Have a lovely weekend!
